Pie

As most of you already know I am in a cooking class here and I absolutely love it. We started by making suckers and our skills have since reached the point that we were able to make pies. I thought it would be simply because I have watched my mom make them over and over agian and have sometimes even helped her. As I started it looked pretty good but as I rolled out the dough I realized I was in trouble. My dough wasn't rolling out and I had to do alot of patching on the bottom, which thankfully no one could see:) Then I embarked on the task of making the top crust. I tried to make a really pretty design and it turned out pretty well, but as I tried to put it on the rolling pin to transfer it to the top, disaster struck, and the whole thing fell apart!!! Well I couldn't roll it out again so I proceeded to cut out hearts which seems to be our apartment theme. I brought it home and cooked it and everyone who tried it loved it. However, I do feel some lessons from my mom coming as I go home during Thanksgiving.

This was my pie before it was baked.

Here it is in the oven. In the process of being baked.

And of course this is the pie all done. As you can see I was pretty excited and proud of my self for my first completed pie done from scratch all by myself! It was pretty delicous to if anyone was wondering!

  3. What???!! You failed your pie making assignment. I am shocked. Just kidding. I am like you, we have watched mom make millions of pies and she makes it look so easy even down to the pinching of the sides to make that cool design is hard, but she does it sooo easy. I don't think I have ever made a pie by myself. You have one up on me for that.
